I have been here a couple times picking up food when I enter I am always greeted, staff is super friendly. The restaurant itself is always clean everyone looks to be enjoying their food. Me and my husband come here every so often only because it can be a bit pricey but we love the food so it's definitely worth it. The lumpia is definitely a must try I am forever buying it no matter what else I order. Definitely recommend this place!

This place is delicious! We got the pork ssig and Pancit Palabok ($15). The pork ssig was phenomenal! I loved the pork belly. It was slightly charred, which gave it a crispy texture. But the interior was still chewy and not too tough. I love how the rice gets smothered with the over easy egg and mayo. The lime juice is prominent and helps balance out the fatty pork belly. The pancit palabok featured a very delicious shrimp gravy sauce and crispy chicharron. Each bite was so flavorful! The service was really friendly. I thought the prices were reasonable. Will definitely be taking my friends here!

This was an evening of firsts for Marjan and me, as we had actually never enjoyed Filipino cuisine. The experience was rewarding! Kabayan is found within a strip center at DeZavala and Interstate 10, across the parking lot from the HEB grocery. There is plenty of parking fronting the restaurant, serving this eatery and the other retails adjacent. The restaurant has been serving patrons for slightly over a year, and while Marjan and I frequent the HEB, we hadn't noticed Kabayan. Entering, we were greeted immediately and given a preference of tables. Surveying, we noticed 15 tables and booths, those in the center of the restaurant could be best described as community tables, where one might seat next to other patrons, a reminder of some of the casual bistros visited in Paris. Directly behind the seating area, the kitchen is seen with chefs plying their trade. The vibe is very casual, the decor understated. We learned that our waitress, Sheryl, was actually an owner, her husband, the other owner, he preparing appetizers and entrees for the guests. We learned that they had been in food service for a number of years, learning the art of Filipino cuisine in their homeland. Perusing the menu, we selected the Chicken Adobo and the Pancit Bihon, traditional dishes one might find on menu in the Philippines. The chicken arrived in a bowl, four pieces of dark meat, nestled within carmelized onion, garlic and pepper, plated within a sauce of vinegar, soy sauce and what we surmised was a touch of Worcestershire. The protein was ever tender, well seasoned, and just melt off the bones. The sauce was savory, but we thought a bit deficient in volume as we preferred to drizzle a portion over the sided white rice. Nonetheless, we considered the entree delicious. Pancit bihon is a dish of vermicelli type of pasta, mixed with carrots, cabbage, green beans and choice of protein: chicken, pork or shrimp. We chose the pork upon recommendation of Sheryl. Again, the entree was excellent, and ample in offering. One issue in my opinion, a bit more pork would be my preference. The restaurant does not serve alcoholic beverage, so we slaked our thirsts with their refreshing cucumber infused water (Marjan) and a diet Coke (yours truly). For our first experience with Filipino cuisine, my dear lady best described the food as a hearty meal, in a sense, a type of "comfort" food that I might have enjoyed with my mother's Mexican American dishes, or what Marjan might have enjoyed with her mother's Persian dishes. We found the staff and owners to be extremely welcoming and more than willing to explain the intricacies of the menu for these neophytes. We engaged Sheryl in discussion of her culture and traditions, finding this just an added benefit of visiting this eatery. Would we recommend Kabayan Kusina? Definitely, and we plan to return to further explore the menu. Enjoy Yelpers, and continue the support for local businesses!!

The food here was good, came out hot, and the portions were great! Service here was good, but the restaurant itself is pretty small and it can get pretty hot in there. The chicken adobo was a fan favorite and was just the right amount of salty and the chicken was tender. The lumpia is extra long and comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. The sisig has some spicy bits in it and is pretty greasy, but pairs really well with rice. The pancit bihon was alright to me, still good but nothing WOWing. Would love to come back and try the other menu items!

I could eat here every day. Pleasantly surprised by this nondescript establishment, this place is putting out delicious filipino cuisine at an affordable cost! Some may disagree with me on the cost but inflation is inflating so these prices are to be expected. The service is friendly and welcoming and it's super clean. They carry a few snack items to take home with you although I did not take a pic of what they offer... I ordered the fried Bangus fish and it was so so good I ate it all and had zero leftovers. The seating is limited so there may be a wait but I promise you it'll be worth it. You must try this spot!!

This is a very bijou eatery with amazing selections ranging from breakfast (all day), lunch, and dinner. Each dish reflects the traditional Filipino cuisine. The appetizers were tasty, lumpia shanghai and BBQ pork skewers with a yummy ginger, carrot, Daikon picked slaw. Our lunch entrees of Chicken Adobe, with pancit noodles and steamed rice and the pancit Paladok, shrimp, rice noodles, and egg was filling. The flavor was very mild with lots of texture. We did wait a while during lunch to get our appetizers, but overall, a nice experience. Will, definitely be back to try their desserts.

We've only been to @kabayankusina.satx once before and had the best Crispy Pork Belly Roll. We headed there for dinner tonight. Sheryl greeted us, remembering our last visit. She told us that they have Laing (taro leaves cooked in coconut milk). It's a dish that Dad misses from his Bicol/Naga area in the Philippines. Boy, was Dad happy! We had the Lumpia Shanghai, Sizzling Sisig, and Lechon Kawali (they ran out of the Crispy pork belly roll because of their segment on SA Live). Our tummies were so full and happy. We had plenty of leftover for another meal. Dad and I had the Sago Gulaman to drink. He enjoyed so much that we ordered one to go. Rica served us most of the time and did a good job. Come and check them out!
